Through your participation in the contest, you will experience important benefits beyond learning about interesting issues, ideas, people, and events of your choosing. You will hone your expressive abilities as you demonstrate command of your topic and present your work in one of the competition’s formats: paper, exhibit, performance, documentary, or website. At the local and affiliate competitions, you have the opportunity to meet students from other schools, exchange ideas, and demonstrate the results of your work. Your success in researching and producing an NHD entry may even take you to the National Contest.

What to Expect:

This is the third year Greybull has hosted the Regional HD competition and we are excited to have you participate! The registration fee will be $5.oo per student. Once everyone gets registered I will send you an invoice.

This year  we are in unchartered territory as it is all online. The virtual competiton should run smoothly. The judging will begin on Monday March 15th and will end on Friday March19th.  I will not be hosting an awards cermony but the results will be posted by 4:00 PM on Friday 19th.  Awards will be mailed to you.

Clarity of Presentation (20%)

Judging Process:

HD relies on consensus judging. That means that instead of giving entries numeric scores, you will be ranking them. You will be assigned to a team of  judges, one of whom will be designated as the captain. It is important that everyone on your team agrees on the overall rankings of the entries you judge.

After the last entry in your judging group has finished, you and your judging teammates will discuss comments and ratings, and come to a conclusion about the final overall rankings for the entries in your group.
